Spiritual Gifts

The Bible says "Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone." (1 Corinthians 12:4-6) God, through the Holy Spirit, gives spiritual gifts to everyone and not all have the same gifts, but all are given by God for God's mission in the world.

The question is the same for many - how do we discover what our spiritual gifts are. Some folks are lucky enough to have others who identify gifts in them - others do not have a clue how God has gifted them and for what purpose.

Many people do not know how to get involved in the ministry of a local congregation because they don't know what they should be doing. The most unfortunate cases exist where people are placed in roles that they do not enjoy and for which they are not gifted. This leads to disappointment and burn out.

@RLC we want everyone to be involved in the ministry of the church. "Ministry" is not something that just the pastors do - everyone is a minister at RLC. We want you to feel welcome to connect with us in meaningful ways - ways that are enriching and fulfilling. The first step in the process of discovering where God might be calling you to get involved is by learning how God has gifted you for ministry.

We invite you to download our Spiritual Gifts inventory and fill it out. You can score it yourself and get a better idea of where you have specific spiritual gifts. This will be a valuable tool for you as you look for ways to get involved at RLC in ways that are meaningful and fulfilling. You can download the survey as a .pdf file by CLICKING THIS LINK.

Connecting in Ministry

There are many ways that someone can connect with Resurrection in our ministry to the community and the world. Resurrection exists to make a positive difference in the lives of those with whom we live in the name of Jesus Christ.

How you choose to connect with Resurrection is completely up to you. Some folks are fulfilled through worship, some like to lead a ministry, some are fulfilled having their faith boots "on the ground" meeting needs with our community on a daily basis. The choice of how you would like to connect is something between you and God. No one will force you to do something simply because we need a warm body. We want you to exercise your faith in meaningful ways.

Being with us and experiencing Resurrection on a daily basis is the best way to learn what we are about and where we are going. Secondly, taking our "Time and Talent" survey may also give you some good ideas about the various ways we connect with the ministries and mission of Resurrection.

You can download a copy of the current survey. These change yearly as do our different ministries. If you discover that the area of ministry that you are interested in is not listed in our current survey, please do not hesitate to contact Pastor Mike. He would love to talk with you about the areas of ministry that you are passionate about and to discover the way that we can make that ministry a reality at RLC. There is room enough for all expressions of faithful service at RLC and we want to make sure that we are doing all that we can to provide an atmosphere where you feel fulfilled as you use your time and your talent in service to God's Kingdom through the ministries of Resurrection.
